CDP ADEM elections

  • First United Methodist Church 109 Washington Blvd. Roseville, CA 95678 United States (map)

You may be seeing posts on Facebook or receiving messages from friends about the upcoming ADEM elections.  What are the ADEM elections, you might ask.

Per the California Democratic Party website:
"The Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMS) are held every two years to elect  . . . Assembly District Delegaates (ADDs) to represent the Assembly District they are registered as a Democrat in. AD Delegates are elected by voters (to participate in the ADEM you MUST be a registered Democrat in that Assembly District.)

AD Delegates to the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) are responsible for planning and attending informational meetings throughout the region and working with other DSCC delegates throughout California to represent their community.

AD Delegates vote on behalf of the community they represent at California Democratic Party (CDP) Regional Meetings, the CDP Convention, and those who are also elected to serve as an Executive Board member are responsible for voting and representing their community at semi-annual E-Board meetings."

Okay, so now what?
ADEMs are elected by you!  Depending upon the Assembly District in which you live, you will have an opportunity to vote for your representatives on January 26th (District 6- currently represented by Kiley) or January 27th (District 5-currently represented by Bigelow). You must be a registered Democrat to participate and votebut if you're not and want to re-register to participate, you can do so on the day of the event.

The ADEM 6 election will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 109 Washington Blvd., Roseville.  This is a meeting hall on the site of the First United Methodist Church.  Doors open at 10:00 AM.  ADEM 6 candidates will have an opportunity to make a brief speech and may have additional materials available for prospective voters at booths located in the parking lot.  Verification of the voter registrations of prospective voters will be begin at 10:45 AM. You can drop by and vote anytime between 11:00-1:00.

If you live in Assembly District 5 and need more information regarding the ADEM 5 election on January 27th, please contact Barbara Smith directly.

Placer Action Network encourages our members and friends who are registered Democrats (or want to become one) to attend the ADEM election in your district and participate.  This is your ability, at a grassroots level, to affect the direction of the CDP.  Remember, your voice is your vote.
